After moving things and generally getting everything in order to expand we're back with more pictures and updates on our Space Marine Chainsword this week. Though the original teeth were good, we found that after a few they looks a little bit too small. So we've given them more bite and the results can be seen below.

Instead of cutting circles of MDF and then quartering them, we've had to go down a more labour intensive route to get the humped-back shape of the teeth right. They are now over an inch long each. We've also started to look at the specific deatiling on the sword as a whole, the eagle mount for the end of the pommel and the metal guard. More coming soon.

We're now starting to get into finishing ideas and colours - what does everyone think? classic Ultramarine? Blood Angel? Black Templar? Let us know so we can experiment!

Looking good Bro! It'll look good no matter how it's painted, slapping an Aquila and a Purity Seal would probably look pretty damn sweet!
ReplyDeleteThanks man :) Thinking about that at the mo. both take a little thought as we'll have to sort out the wax/plastic, but Aquila is more likely as it's detailing we can do with thin plasticard or wood.
ReplyDeleteThis looks astounding. I can't wait to see this finished. As for colour scheme, I think you should go for a tarnished metal look. See if you can get some hazard-tape style patterning on there too! I'm not sure it necessarily needs to have a certain Chapter's colours on it...
ReplyDeleteOh and some battle-damage certainly wouldn't go amiss! Some kinks and scratches here and there would go a long way to making this look really realistic.

Possibly thinking Blood Angel overall, with a blood drip on the main blade. Also may do battle damage, but as it's more a promotional we're in two minds at the mo.
